Programs Supported This Year

Waves of Hope in Nicaragua helps communities design their path out of poverty by ensuring building blocks for success are delivered: clean water solutions and local infrastructure improvement. Arts programs have no government funding despite the evident passion for arts among the youth.

Artbound will fund a long-term sustainable 3 pronged arts program in this community which will involve once a week classes for music, visual arts and dance based out of the local high school classroom facilities.

In order to help children in Afghanistan reclaim their childhood, War Child operates 45 child friendly spaces across the country providing children room to be children, restoring their creativity and providing them a place to play and learn out of harm’s way.

Artbound funds this program with the goal to provide creative and educational programming to over 18,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2016 in Afghanistan.

Almost six year ago, Haitians were devastated by an earthquake that killed over 230,000 people and left hundreds of thousands injured or displaced. INAMUH (Institute de Musiqued’Haiti) is a program in Terre Cassée, dedicated to teaching music to young students; instruments like the violin or drums so they can perform local songs in youth orchestras.

Via Free the Children, Artbound is funding a music school to help expand attendance, giving them new skills and empowering them with confidence.

Across Canada, the UNITY School Program breaks down barriers between youth in schools and communities using the power of the arts. Unity Days are a full school day of student engagement with hiphop and breakdancing performances and workshops. Students learn new ways to cope with daily stress and anger positively through dance and creative writing, as opposed to resorting to physical aggression and violence.

Artbound supports UNITY’s National Program with school programs in Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax and Fort McMurray.
